Description

Event Summary

After stuffing yourself with Thanksgiving fixings, you have three choices for Black Friday. Stand in line at the stores, veg on the couch, or #OptOutside! Team Lightning is starting a new trend, by getting active on Black Friday and encouraging the nation to get outside.

Join us for a day trip to the Fierry Gizzard Trail, and visit the beautiful Raven Point overlook, which was formerly under threat of being lost to the public due to land disputes. Well, it's safe, and available for our enjoyment. This is something to be Thankful for! This hike is best for individuals with experience hiking at least 8 miles or more on moderate to strenuous terrain.

Trail Info: This trail is one of the most diverse and beautiful in Tennessee. We will do a large loop only back-tracking about ¼ mile. The trail is very rocky in places as we start out and follow the stream for 3.7 miles. We will take this part of the trip at a slow pace as it offers many opportunities for pictures. Then we have 500 foot elevation climb out of the valley to a spectacular overlook called Ravens Point, which we will break for lunch. From there we start back on moderate trails at faster pace for the return to the parking lot. Trail head has running water and restrooms.
