EVENT DETAILS

Grab your gloves and lend a helping hand for the 26th Annual Hands On Nashville Day! Rally your friends and family to become part of Nashville’s largest day of service benefiting Metro Nashville Public Schools! As a volunteer, you’ll complete “done-in-a-day” improvement projects including painting and landscaping that help make the places where our children learn and play a little brighter. Form your own team or join an existing team like Lightning 100's Team Green Adventures!

Hands On Nashville Day engages hundreds of Nashvillians at school sites across the city in an inspiring and fun day of volunteerism that make Metro schools a greener and more sustainable place to learn and grow. During this family-friendly day of service, volunteers will build school gardens, create vibrant murals, weatherstrip classroom windows, complete large-scale painting and landscaping projects and more!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Over the past seven years, Team Green Adventures has landscaped a school entrance flower bed, planted trees in a school courtyard, cleaned and freshened up paint in a school hallway, built a "math garden" to help children to visually learn fractions and shapes via flowers and rocks, cleaned school desks, installed a rain garden, and dug out an irrigation trench to prevent the playground from flooding during heavy rains. Each time has been a memorable and rewarding experience, and we've always managed to get an outdoor themed project! We typically work alongside fellow Teachers, Principals, and parents of the the schools. Be a part of the change. Lend a hand!

All tools are provided. Participants are welcome to bring your own pair of work gloves. Bring a snack and plenty of hydration.

ABOUT HANDS ON NASHVILLE

Hands On Nashville (HON) works to address critical issues facing the Middle Tennessee community through volunteer-centric programming. Annually, HON connects thousands of volunteers to service opportunities supporting area nonprofits as well as its programs in urban agriculture, home energy savings, youth leadership development and support of public education.

Hands On Nashville challenges everyone to find a way to make a difference. For more information, visit www.HON.org or call (615) 298-1108.

Hands On Nashville Day is not just a day of service to our community. It is also a fundraising event to support the year-round volunteer programming HON offers to the community, including the ReCYCLE for KidsUrban Farm, Waterways Clean Up & Restoration Project, and the Home Energy Savings Program! These projects would not have been made possible without the funds raised from previous HON Volunteer Days. Volunteers are asked to make a $25 donation at the time of registration.

Team Green Members and Non-Members may register for FREE for our Team (below), but we encourage everyone to make a donation to Hands On Nashville to continue its mission for years to come.
