ABOUT CHARIT CREEK LODGE

Charit Creek Lodge offers congenial accommodations and hearty meals without disturbing the nature you’ve come to enjoy. After a true country dinner, sit back in your front porch rocker and see a full display of stars, listen to the stream, and watch the firefly display; no hum of machinery or bright electric light to interfere. Each morning, wake to the smell of fresh coffee on the stove.

Located where Charit Creek and Station Camp Creek meet, the lodge rests in a beautiful pasture framed by magnificent bluffs. This valley has given shelter to travelers in the Big South Fork since it was a hunting camp inhabited by Native Americans. One hunter, Jonathan Blevins, built the first cabin in Big South Fork in 1817. His log structure still stands as part of the lodge today!

Accommodations: Charit Creek Lodge is a rustic cabin with wood burning stove and bunk beds. The cabin features a volleyball net and other games for entertainment, and has bathrooms and showers on-site. Bedding (pillows, blankets and sheets) is included in the trip price. Dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning are also included in the price, and will be home-cooked by Charit Creek Lodge’s chef upon our arrival. The lodge has recently been renovated, so this is a great time to experience all that the park has to offer!

LOGISTICS

We will meet for carpool in Nashville at 7:30am on Saturday. Expect a 3-hour drive to Charit Creek Lodge. This event takes place on the border between CST & EST. We will meet at the trailhead, leaving our cars behind, to hike in to the Lodge. Expect a reasonably short hike to the Lodge (it's about 1.5 miles from the parking lot to the Lodge). Please bring a lunch, as we'll rest at the Lodge for lunch upon arrival before taking a day hike to the Twin Arches, one of the most incredible natural features in the park. Participants can also choose to stay at the cabin for a relaxing afternoon. Around 6pm, we’ll all gather for a home-cooked meal at the Lodge, and then enjoy the evening sitting around a campfire, gazing at the stars, or relaxing around the cabin. In the morning we will awake to a true country breakfast at the lodge and pack up our belongings. Participants can choose either to hike directly back to the cars and head home, or take a longer trail back to the cars, enjoying the beauty of the park along the way.

This price includes full-service lodging for one night in the cabin (beds, linens/pillows, bathroom/heated shower), as well as two home-cooked meals (dinner and breakfast). We will be staying in a detached cabin (the nicer of the two options available to guests), and the price also includes 9.5% state sales tax and 5% state lodging tax.
