EVENT DETAILS

The first day of summer is Tuesday, June 20, but we're getting a jump on the festivities with a giant picnic with your outdoor friends!

Join Nashville Hiking MeetupPaddle Adventures Unlimited, and Team Green Adventures as we grill some grub and play friendly games of cornhole, horseshoes, Frisbee, and more! There is a playground and lots of trails to hike or bike there as well. Paddlers bring your boats! Stand up paddleboards allowed!

Parking: Parking is available near the picnic shelter

POLICIES

Dog Policy: Dogs are not welcome in this part of the park.
Children Policy: This is a family-friendly event
Weather Policy: This is a light rain or shine event. This event will be cancelled (and possibly rescheduled) with heavy rain or severe weather. Keep an eye on the weather, as it rapidly changes in Nashville!
Refund Policy: No registration required - no refund policy needed!

ABOUT THE EVENT

Bring your own meat or veggies to grill along with these items to share based on your last name:

A - F: Side dish (chips, dips, veggies, fruit, potato salad) AND serving spoons 
G - L: Bottled or canned drinks (water and Gatorade especially appreciated on this hot day) and ice plus coolers if you have one 
M - R: Desserts 
S - Z: Plates, napkins, cups, garbage bags, ziplocs (we have plenty of plastic forks and spoons)

Grills are provided; let us know if you can bring charcoal and grilling tools.

Also, please bring camp chairs and any sports equipment you have to share (soccer ball, Frisbee, football, corn hole, your kayak or canoe, etc.). Paddlers: yes, you can put in right here beside the picnic shelter! (You must bring and wear your PFD. Rangers do patrol this area.) Stand-up paddleboards allowed! 

The Boathouse will be open for canoe, kayak, and flat-bottom boat rentals.

Carpool with a friend to save space at the park. We don't have an official carpool set up so arrange this with your hiking buddies on your own or post a note in your RSVP.

Hiking

For those who wish to do some hiking after the picnic, Long Hunter Naturalist Jason Allen will lead a hike from the Couchville Lake picnic shelter at about 3:00 p.m.

From Nashville, take I-40 East to Mt. Juliet Road, Exit 226-A. Go south (right) 6.2 miles to the main park entrance on your left. Or, take I-24 east to Old Hickory Boulevard, Exit 62. Go north (left) on SR171 6.4 miles to the main park entrance on your right.

Once in the park, turn left following signs to Couchville Lake shelter.
