EVENT DETAILS

Join Team Green Adventures on this intermediate backpacking trip on the Cumberland Trail. We will be traversing the Eagle Bluff section of the Cumberland Mountain Segment. Along the way there’s a wonderland of rock, including two “Great Walls of China” rock walls, massive sandstone cliffs, a stone arch, and numerous rocky lookouts, with vistas of the Powell River Valley, Cumberland Mountain, and on a clear day the Southern Appalachians.!  With proper pacing, we will stop at Eagle Bluff for a much deserved lunch, before making our way to the campsite, that offers an optional shelter that was constructed by the CTC in the late 90s by the CTC, for the evening.  In the morning there will be some impressive rock formations as well as a staircase built by a local group of Eagle Scouts that ascends a rock face. The wild flower population should still be prevalent on the remainder of the trail. With only half of a mile remaining, we will pass a massive concrete foundation, there is an overlook that provides a view of the scenic CSX Railroad Bridge.
