WHAT TO EXPECT
Over the course of the afternoon at Ferrell Hollow, we'll be doing a variety of things! Here's a list of what you can expect:
- Cleaning stables and prepping the barn for the Farm's annual fundraiser
- Repairing fencing and doing maintenance across the Sanctuary's grounds
- Potential interactions with the Farm's horses (because this is a rehabilitation facility, some horses are shy and will avoid interacting with people, while others will likely get curious about what's going on and come say hey)
- Great cameraderie among your fellow Team Greeners and Trip Leaders!
ABOUT THE FERRELL HOLLOW FARM SENIOR HORSE SANCTUARY
Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse Sanctuary, founded in 1996, is a 501c3 non-profit organization devoted to rescuing horses that would be considered at risk of abuse, neglect, or overworked. Cindy Diagre is the founder and director, who conducts and advises all aspects of the organization. They provide rescue to senior horses, most often draft horses with special needs. Once physical, mental, and emotional assessments have been determined, their needs are permanently cared for. They assist these horses with a great deal of time and resources creating a better quality of life for them.
