The Robertson County Players began in 1978 when a few friends were gathered around a kitchen table discussing how great it would be if Springfield and Robertson County had their own theater group. Among those founding members were former professional actors and directors, speech and drama teachers, business leaders, and theater lovers. In the fall of 1978 the RCP's first production, Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite," debuted to sold out audiences.Operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit community theater, the RCP has produced some of Broadway's greatest plays and musicals and continues to impress even the local folks with professional caliber productions.Over the years the RCP has presented shows various venues, primarily school theaters throughout the county. Beginning in 2012 the RCP will be calling the historic Springfield Middle School Auditorium home for all productions.
