Soar over the treetops on a giant kite over Lookout Mountain! Choose between a 1800 ft or 3000 ft tandem flight with a professional certified Lookout Mountain Hang Glide instructor pilot by your side. Fly on either Saturday or Sunday, camp Saturday night and enjoy the Full Moon Summer Solstice Bonfire Party on the field while hanging by the pool!
Note: This is not a "Hang Gliding Ride," but rather a flight instruction. While in the air your instructor pilot will show you how the hang glider works and give you the opportunity to steer the glider. When it's time for landing, the instructor pilot will take over for a safe landing.
When Saturday, June 22nd (9:30am Flight Check In Time) or Sunday, June 23rd (9:30am Flight Check InTime).

WHAT TO EXPECT
All flights are tandem flights. This means you will fly side-by-side with a certified instructor. Your hang glider will be towed up to either 1800 or 3000 feet, then the hang glider will be released from the plane and will leisurely glide down to the flight field. Check In times for Team Green will begin at 10am on Saturday and at 9am on Sunday.
Individual flights will take place throughout the morning in a group setting as we hang out in the flight pavillion to cheer on one another.
A 1800 ft flight will last approximately 12 to 20 minutes of flying time – or try the 3000 ft flight for 20 to 26 minutes of flying time. Get the most out of your 4.5 hours roundtrip drive by staying the entire weekend and immersing yourself in the hang gliding culture!
Camping on Saturday evening is highly encouraged for all Sunday fliers, and recommended for Saturday fliers. Camping takes place along the wooded edge of the flight field, with access to swimming pool, bathroom/shower facility, and community house with deck. Saturday Evening will feature a "Full Moon Summer Solstice" Bonfire Party on the flight field with $5 community dinner and (usually) live music. This is a great way to mingle with individuals who have made a life sport out of hang gliding! Bring your bathing suit and hang out pool side as you watch the experienced/certified hang gliders take their flights from the cliffside and land on the field.
Campers will need to provide your own camping gear, toiletries, lunch/breakfast items, and cash for the Saturday Dinner.
Camping is included for any Team Green participant registered for a tandem flight. To be added to the list, please select the camping option before checking out! Participants can also reserve beds in the Bunkhouse or Cabins for an extra fee. For more information, Call Lookout Mountain Hang Glide at (800-688-5637).
On Saturday after the morning flights (approximately 12:30pm), and before the evening Party, drive a short 20 minutes down the road for a Day Hike at Cloundland Canyond. This beautiful trail features smooth boulder rock formations and a long wooden staircase that terminates at the base of a beauitufl waterfall.
If you are interested in trying out "solo" hang gliding, take advantage of a huge discount offered to Team Green participants. For those who register for the Introductory Class (aka. Ground School), your hang gliding day will begin at 8am. Learn the tricks of the trade on the "Training Hills" and take your tandem flights, after Ground School has finished.
You DO NOT have to do your ground school on the same day as your tandem flight. You can break them up over the weekend (ie Tandem Flight on Saturday and Ground School on Sunday) OR, you can use your ground school option on an entirely different weekend. It's up to you, but the discounted rate is only available to those who fly tandem with Team Green over the weekend of June 22-23rd. To book your Ground School reservations, please register below for you Tandem Flight, then call Dan Zink (800-688-5637) at Lookout Mountain Hang Glide to pay separately for your Ground School instruction.
Registration is now open to Team Green Members. Members may register up to 2 spots at the member price (for yourself and a friend). Non-members may register starting June 8th, while spots last. The deadline to register is June 18th.
