ABOUT CUMBERLAND CAVERNS

Cumberland Caverns is Tennessee’s Largest Show Cave, located in the heart of Middle Tennessee between Nashville, Chattanooga, and Gatlinburg. The caverns is a short drive from Fall Creek Falls State Park, Rock Island State Park, Center Hill Lake, and Savage Gulf (the Stone Door) and a neighbor of Falcon Rest Historic Mansion. Open for daily scenic walking tours year round. We also offer educational field trips, overnight spelunking trips, daytime adventure trips, group tours, and banquets, birthday parties, and weddings. Something for everyone! Come Discover Tennessee's Underground.

Cumberland Caverns is also home to Bluegrass Underground, a monthly bluegrass concert series, recorded live at Cumberland Caverns. The show can be heard on 650 WSM at 5:00 pm (central) on Saturdays, right before the Grand Ole' Opry. Bluegrass Underground can be seen live at Cumberland Caverns.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CAVING

Everyone interested in carpooling may meet at the designated area (included in confirmation email) at 11am the day of the trip. Participants planning to drive straight to the caverns should meet at the gift shop by 1pm. A helmet and helmet light are provided. Knee pads and gloves are recommended but not required. Participants should wear sturdy boots that lace up. It is recommended that the boots provide ankle support.

The smallest crawling area is 11 inches high. Participants should have a chest size of 48 inches or smaller to make it though this space.

Plan to spend approximately 3 hours in the cave with an hour extra for gearing up and instruction before entering the cave. Anyone interested in going out to dinner after as a group should make sure their carpool group has the same plans. Bring a change of clothes!
