ABOUT NASHVILLE DRAGON BOAT RACE

The Cumberland River Compact and Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association are hosting the 4th Annual Dragon Boat & River Festival at Riverfront Park, in Downtown Nashville. Grab your paddles to raise awareness of these great organizations and promote the health of the Cumberland River. The festival combines the excitement of racing with the beauty and spectacle of Nashville’s diverse culture. In Chinese tradition, the dragon is a symbol of health and prosperity and dragon boat racing inspires health and fitness among participants as well as spectators.

Last year, 38 teams roared down the Cumberland River. Team consist of 20 paddlers (ten rows of 2 each) plus one Team Captain druming the beat of the strokes. With registration only a short time away, it’s time to get on board. Secure your spot today and save money, too, by registering early.

Register your own Team (21 people total): $1,100 until May 1st or $1,250 after May 1st
Register as a single and be assigned to a boat: $60 per person
Join the Team Green or Lightning 100 Boat: Sign in to register

There are a few rules and regulations. For example, Teams must consist of at minimum 16 paddlers, boats must be co-ed and must have at minimum 8 female paddlers on board.

DRAGONLAND (KIDS SECTION)

Bring your kids to DragonLand! Face painting will get them in the spirit, and they will have a ball in the Bounce Castle and Slide.  They can also have their names written in Chinese and make Dragon Crowns with the help of the Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville.  Kids can explore the Cumberland River and learn how barges work with Riverworks Discovery, then meet actual “Critters of the Cumberland” with local biologists.  The cost is only $5.00 for all-day admission for all the fun activities. While you are there, don’t forget to get a picture with our very own mock dragon boat!

GEAR SWAP

Do you have outdoor gear (tents, backpacks, boots, etc.) gathering dust in your basement? Or are you looking for an inexpensive way to stock up on equipment? Bring your gently used gear to swap or sell at the Dragon Boat Festival! We'll have an area set aside for this inagural Gear Swap at the festival. Note: Gear bartering or selling is between individuals and will not be monitored or governed by the Dragon Boat officials. Team Green Adventurs also will not be liabable for any transactions made during the gear swap. Be sure to have extra friends on site with you to monitor your gear.

AFTER PARTY

Join the Cumberland River Compact and Wildhorse Saloon for the 2010 Nashville Dragon Boat & River Festival After-Party and Awards Ceremony! Enjoy specials for all paddlers at the Wildhorse Saloon off First Avenue in Downtown Nashville- only steps away from Riverfront Park! Come in, cool off, and enjoy the celebration with friends, competitors and of course, the divisional winners and 2010 Grand Champions!
