EVENT DETAILS
After a fantastic day of live music at Nashville Earth Day Festival on Saturday, round out your weekend with a family friendly play date followed by a children's theatrical performance enjoyable for children and adults. TPAC Family Field Trip presents "The Man Who Planted Trees", a heart warming story of a man and his dog who restore a barren wasteland one tree at a time. This unique blend of comedy, puppetry, and storytelling is a fun and entertaining weekend cap to an entire week of celebrating our Earth. We will start off with a play date at one of Nashville's best playgrounds then head over to TPAC for the show.
When: Sunday, April 18th at 1pm (play date), 4pm (show)
Where: TPAC Johnson Theater
505 Deaderick Street (Downtown Nashville)
Cost: $11 per person, children and adults (regular price $14 adults, $11 children)
Difficulty: This is a social gathering for children and adults. The performance is only 1 hour, with no intermission, and the actors engage the audience to keep everyone entertained!
Children Policy: This is a family friendly event. TPAC Family Field trip performances are appropriate for both children and adult audiences. However, because some elements of the story are portrayed in quiet, engaging sequences, the artistic staff recommends this performance for children seven years and older. ABOUT TPAC FAMILY FIELD TRIP
Unlike anything else presented in Nashville or Middle Tennessee, TPAC Family Field Trips are designed to give children and adults a fun, family-friendly experience with live performance. The lively, high-quality entertainment features artists with international reputations and a multi-cultural blend of art with broad appeal to people of different ages and backgrounds.
Performed by Puppet State Theatre of Scotland, “The Man Who Planted Trees” is adapted from Jean Giono’s classic environmental tale about a shepherd who plants a forest, acorn by acorn, transforming a barren wasteland. Two performers operate a host of puppets to tell this gentle, touching tale, which includes hilarious comedic interaction with a loveable dog.
TPAC Family Field trip performances are appropriate for both children and adult audiences. However, because some elements of the story are portrayed in quiet, engaging sequences, the artistic staff recommends this performance for children seven years and older.
