HANDS ON PRESENTATION

At this month's Engage Green, bring in some of your unwanted, but still good, supplies, scraps, gifts and recycleables. We'll learn more about recycled arts and create our own holiday gifts using new-to-us items.

Adults

Bring in items around that house that you just don't have a use for, but know someone else might consider the perfect gift. A table will be set out for "re-gifting" items. Any items not snagged by someone else can be brought back home with your, or Team Green Adventures will gladly donate the items to a charity.

While there, enjoy some of the art by Lisa Winters. Lisa Winters is a green artist, whos works have been featured at the Nashville Green Buisiness Expo, the Shoppes on Main in Franklin, the Good Cup in Grassland, and Verdigo General Store in Westhaven.

Kids

Bring in scraps from around your house for a craft night. Empty egg cartons, old newspapers and magazines, wood scraps, peices of fabric, cardboard, left over yarn, old electronics that you can take apart... anything your family might otherwise throw away or recycle, that is clean and has promise for creating something new!

Jodi Reeves with The Creative JAR will be offering a kids (and adult) crafts section using these left over materials. Any materials not used can be either taken home, or Jodi will collect for her future art projects. Mom's, ask Jodi about Artsy Mama's while at this event. Artsy Mamas is a non-profit in Murfreesboro looking to create a Nashville Chapter. Their mission is to educates and empower mothers and their children in the arts, a movement that encourages mothers to get their art on while developing meaningful relationships with their children, other mothers and their community.

ABOUT ENGAGE GREEN

Engage Green is an initiative of Lightning 100’s Team Green Adventures and Cool People Care designed to educate the Nashville community about simple ways to make their lives greener. Engage Green hosts a knowledgeable speaker the first Tuesday of every month to offer how-to tips that can be easily transferred into our daily lives in an informal, casual setting. Each presentation is interactive and allows discussion throughout. Topics this fall include home energy audits, composting, sustainable cooking, and eco-friendly holiday gift ideas. Each workshop is free and includes a one hour presentation or demonstration followed by question/answer and engaging with other participants. No reservations needed. Open to the public. Locations will vary.
